North of Lake Balaton, on the volcanic slopes of Szent György-hegy, Annamária Török and Atilla Francisti produce honest, wines under the name Kolonia 52.

Exciting things are happening on this hill! While Kolonia 52′s first official vintage (2021) has just been released, Annamária and Atilla are far from newcomers. They’ve worked with renowned Austrian producers like Gut Oggau, Heinrich, and Michael Gindl, gaining valuable experience along the way.

Their vineyards are a patchwork of small plots on the northern side of Szent György-hegy hilly, sometimes steep, and a bit maze-like. The work is of course done organically and biodynamically. The soil is mostly basalt, which gives nice acidity and minerality to the wines.

In the cellar, the wines ferment under their own power, and no additives are used at all. They work with native Hungarian varieties like Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), In addition to their own cultivations, they also buy grapes from growers they know and who work with the same cultivation philosophy.
